St Joseph's Higher Secondary School, Thalassery is an educational institution in Thalassery, Kerala. It was started as an Anglo Indian school in the 16th century, run under the management of Latin Diocese of Kannur. It is located in the heart of Thalassery town, by the side of the Tellicherry Fort. The architecture of the school gives a view of the Arabian sea, even from the classrooms. == History ==
An Anglo Indian school was established as a part of the Holy Rosary Church which was established in the early years of 16th century. The Holy Rosary Church was under the Goa Arch bishop until 1609. It was one of the important Christian churches in Malabar. Later it became a part of the Kodungallur archdiocese. Then it became a part of the Calicut Kozhikode) archdiocese and now a part of the Thalassery archdiocese. This English medium school was known as European school and Catholic middle school in its early days. Later on June 1, 1941 Saint Josephs Boys High School came into existence. There were 32 students in the first batch. It was as a result of the work of Father Rodrigs that the school obtained a double storied building, library and laboratory. Father George Pathiyil was appointed as the head master of Saint Joseph's High School in 1952.
